Inboard Engines
An inboard motor is a marine propulsion system for boats. As opposed to an outboard motor where an engine is mounted outside the hull of the craft, an inboard motor is an engine enclosed within the hull of the boat, usually connected to a propulsion screw by a driveshaft.
The 4LV proves to be an extremely efficient engine without any compromise on quality. Featuring the newest system in common-rail technology, the mid-range engines deliver maximum performance and reliability, while maintaining minimal fuel consumption and exceptionally low noise & emission levels. By exceeding the strict EPA Tier 3 and EU RCD Stage 2 emission regulations, the engines feature virtually smoke and odor free operation. Equally, the 4LV doesn’t disappoint in performance. The 2.8 L displacement delivers a powerful low-end torque performance. This results in a stunning acceleration and really sets these engines apart from others in their power range. To ensure support of advancing marine technologies, direct connectivity to NMEA and J1939 CAN-bus networks has been purpose engineered into the 4LV range, allowing future-proofed integration to any multifunction bridge display.
The 3-cylinder 3JH40 has been developed by leading manufacturer YANMAR as the marine industry’s smallest CR inboard diesel engine. With an output of 40 mhp, it will enable a whole new category of smaller leisure boat owners and commercial vessel operators to benefit for the first time from the efficiency and performance advantages associated with the most recent electronically-managed CR fuel-injection technology.
A high-displacement footprint allows the V-8s to work smarter – not harder – with lower max rpm to ensure longer engine life. Engine Guardian is standard and averts potential problems with timely intervention, while the Cool Fuel Module prevents vapor lock. Long runner intakes pack more air into the chamber, while the advanced MPI system fine-tunes the fuel-to-air mix, producing more power on combustion. High performance aluminum cylinder heads improve mid-range acceleration. Optional SmartCraft® Digital Throttle & Shift provides silky-smooth operation.

The turbocharger has a wastegate boost compensator to improve acceleration still further. LH Series 4LHAM-STP (240HP/177kW) Tough and dependable high-output four-cylinder diesel, turbocharged and aftercooled. Develops 240HP (177kW) at 3,300 rpm. Supplied as bob-tail unit so that you can choose your transmission type
The latest in a series of new-generation compact diesels from Yanmar Marine is its three-cylinder 3YM20, developing 21HP (15.3kW) at 3,600 rpm. Displacement is 0.854 litres. The naturally aspirated 3YM20 features a completely redesigned cylinder block and combustion system, configured for quietest possible, vibration-free running. It is a vertical four-stroke, fresh water cooled. With indirect injection and a swirl pre-combustion chamber, this all-new unit complies with EPA Tier 2 and BSO/SAV Stage 2 emissions regulations. A compact control panel, injection pump, electric stop solenoid and 60-amp alternator are introduced as standard.
Mercury Diesel’s 3.0L engine simplifies maintenance by locating service points at the front of the engine. The oil, coolant, fuse box, seawater strainer, drive lube (sterndrive only) and power steering fluid (sterndrive only) service points are located at the front of the engine next to Mercury’s color-coded maintenance schedule to provide easy-to-understand service guidelines and easy-to-reach access.
