This latest incarnation has taken the engine into a new era of mechanical and digital sophistication. We have completely re-engineered the fuel induction and aspiration systems - all functions now being managed by state-of-the-art electronic precision for even better all-round performance. We’ve replaced single injectors with a high-pressure common-rail fuel system to deliver exceptionally finely atomised fuel to the cylinders for better power-to-weight performance, fuel economy and smooth running.

The 6LF engine is a compact and powerful common rail diesel engine, perfect for planing and semi-planing vessels, both recreational and light duty commercial. Controlled by the YANMAR VC20 system, it expands YANMAR brand’s line with higher horsepower, providing the largest common rail, electronically managed marine diesel line-up in the industry.
The YANMAR 6LF meets EPA Tier 3 and EU RCD Stage 2 emissions regulations while also providing a wide range of fuel compatibility to meet requirements for various government service applications.
The 6LF has been customized with YANMAR’s proprietary fuel mapping and a larger mixing elbow for reliable and consistent output performance. It is custom engineered to offer direct connectivity to NMEA and J1939 CAN-bus networks. It comes available with a number of standard and optional features, including single- and 2-pole installation, various ZF gears, and custom secondary alternator options to meet nearly any complex application.

Following brand new genuine Yanmar parts were installed (last photo):
standard size of 90mm (ZTR20A) pistons with rings, standard main and conrod bearings on crankshaft (which was found "as new" after checking of wear limits), 3 exhaust and 1 intake valves, all internal Anodes, some valve guides, all gaskets, oil seals, filters, bearings, belts, injector valve nozzles, water pump kit including shaft and impeller, water & oil pipes, thermostat, all engine mounts, clutch disc/damper, SS belt cover, SS dash panel with RPM meter, all new wiring harness.Some break in hours on low/mid Revs would be very welcome and required to ensure longevity of this unit.
